For each session of the General Assembly a large amount of working documents
are issued as reports, draft resolutions and declarations, exchange of letters speeches, notes etc.

Documentation

The working documents of the General Assembly carry the following symbols:

A/   General Assembly

-/session number

-/consecutive number

Ex. A/55/137 General Assembly, 55th session, document 137 = Assistance to the Palestinian People

Working documents in print for the period 1946-1992 will be found in the UN collection of the
Dag Hammarskjöld Library, Uppsala, and in the libraries at UN Headquarters in New York
and Geneva.   

Databases and Indexes

From 1993 onwards the session documents are published electronically through the Official Document System of the United Nations - ODS.

References for session documents can be retrieved from the UN online library catalogue UNBISnet with links to full text for recent years.

From the 55th session onwards a large amount of full text working documents from the sessions are posted at the UN official web site, Documents, General Assembly, Sessions


Printed Indexes

All working documents from are listed in the United Nations Documents Index. A complete series of indexes will be found in the Dag Hammarskjöld Library, Uppsala, and in the libraries at UN Headquarters in New York and Geneva.

References to working documents are often contained in the texts of other documents such as the resolutions. Such references can also be found in the Yearbook of the United Nations at the end of each chapter. Since October 2008 the complete full text collection of The United Nations Yearbooks is available online at http://unyearbook.un.org/.
